Collision was caused by captain's fault

The collision of the "Witte de With" and a barge start of February 2016 at the Drierivierenpunt was caused by the captain of the waterbus who made an error in judgment. He did not recognize the barge upstream on the radar. It was not the first time that a captain of a waterbus made such an error. In three of the six incidents that occurred in the past two years an error of judgment by a captain was the cause. Waterbus/Arriva was now thinking about the expansion of camera equipment and radar system on board.
