Medevac in Andijk
On Sep 10, 2018, at 6.30 p.m. the lifeboats of the KNRM stations Andijk, Medemblik and Enkhuizen were alerted for a medical issue on the IJsselmeer. The "Vrijheid" with a patient on board had sailed to the port of Andijk to transfer the patient to a waiting ambulance. The person had been injured aboard the charter ship on the IJsselmeer near Andijk. As the captain of the ship had doubts about the situation, he sounded an alarm via the Coast Guard Center. They in turn alerted the four lifeboats and a helicopter. The helicopter, however, did not have to take off in the end. The victim was below deck, and the personnel of the KNRM lifeboats provided first aid. The ship sailed independently to the port of Andijk. With the help of the KNRM, the patient was lifted from the ship and transferred to the ambulance. After having recorded the data, all lifeboats returned to their station, and the ship continued on its way to Medemblik.
