Two ferries and one SAR boat assisted cayuco off Los Cristianos
On Feb 16 at around 4:35 p.m. LT, the ferry 'Benchijigua Express' informed the MRC of Salvamento Maritimo in Tenerife that it believed it had seen a cayuco, about 13 nautical miles from Los Cristianos. The 'Volcán de Teno' was nearby and heading in the opposite direction. It was diverted to the indicated position, where minutes later it confirmed that it was a cayuco and reported that it had begun to follow it. The 'Volcán de Teno' proceeded slowly and maintaining visual contact with the cayuco, heading towards the 'Salvamar Alpheratz' which had been mobilized to assist. At 5:25 p.m. the SAR boat confirmed to the ferry that it had seen the cayuco, thanked it for its collaboration and indicated that it could resume its course to its destination, Los Cristianos. After the approach manoeuvre, the 'Salvamar Alpheratz' escorted the cayuco to Los Cristianos. Report with photo: https://x.com/salvamentogob/status/1891181808328245449
