Passenger who fell over board rescued by engineer
A 31-year-old fell overboardthe "Vincent Coleman" in the late afternoon of Nov 27, 2019. The ferry was underway from Halifax to the Alderney Landing ferry terminal, and was about halfway across the harbour, when the man fell over a railing around 5:30 p.m. The vessel stopped immediately so they could make a rescue attempt. The ferry engineer jumped into the water to rescue the passenger. Meanwhile, crew members used a life net to pull him out of the water and back onto the ferry. The passenger was in the water for about five minutes. The man wasn’t seriously injured, but was taken to hospital as a precaution. Police was investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, but they believed alcohol may have been a factor.
Ferry crew rescued over board passenger
The crew of the "Vincent Coleman" rescued a man who went overboard on Oct 9, 201, in the middle of the Halifax harbour. The ferry was sailing from Halifax to Dartmouth's Alderney landing when first responders were alerted around 5:30 p.m. One crew member jumped in the water after the man to help him stay afloat until the rest of the crew could pull him back aboard the vessel using a life net. The man, 31, was taken to hospital for observation and was conscious and breathing and communicating when he got in the ambulance. The Halifax Regional Police said the man fell over a railing and was rescued by the ferry engineer and other staff.
