Allision on the Danube
On Apr 12, 2018, at 4:55 a.m. the Swiss flagged passenger m/v "Thomas Hardy" (EU-No.: 07002048), allided with the "Viking Bragi" which was berthed at the Ernst-Koref-Promenade on the Danube in Linz. The "Thomas Hardy" was sailing river upstream and was about to berth when it was caught by stron wind gusts. The stern was pushed against the river cruise ship. Three windows aboard the "Viking Bragi" were smashed. The "Thomas Hardy" was not damaged. All of the on the whole 350 passengers and 91 crew members of the ships remained uninjured. Allision with scaffolding
On June 18, 2016, the "Viking Bragi" allided with the scaffolding of a bridge construction site on the Main-Danube-Canal at Riedenburg. The 170 passengers and 50 crew members of the ship remained uninjured. The ship was underway from Budapest to Nuremberg. The mainly American passengers were disembarked after the ship had docked and carried on by coached. The damage to the ship and the scaffoling under the bridge was at least 800.000 Euro. The accident may have been caused by poor visibility of less than 50 meters. The master had tried to use a passage which was not open for ship traffic at that time. The river was closed for ship traffic after the allision. Divers were sent down to search for debris. The ship docked at the Öswag-Yard in Linz on June 23 at 2 p.m. for repairs.
