Failure of controllable pitch propeller

Sat Jul 21 22:12:51 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "VB Hispania" suffered a failure of its controllable pitch propeller while heaving anchor at the Ilets Dombourg anchorage three nautical miles East of Neuville, Quebec, in position 46 42.278 N, 071 31.164 W, on July 19, 2018, at 09.45 a.m. The tug "Ocean Tundra" towed the ship to Quebec.

Tug towed damaged Modern Express to Aliaga

Tue Oct 11 13:36:27 CEST 2016 Timsen

On Oct 10, 2016, the "VB Hispania" with the vehicle carrier "Modern Express" in tow dropped anchor off Aliaga after 20 days of crossing the Bay of Biscay along the Portuguese Atlantic Coast and finally crossing the Mediterranean from west to east. After having passed the Strait of Gibraltar, the towing wire was shortened from 900 meters to 600 meters. Captain Chaviano Izaguirre had prepared the towage plan with a classic connection that included two separate sections of chains of 27 meters length, one fixed to the starboard and one to the portside bow ofthe "Modern Express" But the Spanish authorities deemed this insufficient and forced him to add another 27 meters on each side. Eventually the "Modern Express" will not become junk, but get repaired and repainted and continue travelling in the the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
