Gouwe free again

The "Valk" pushed away the barge which had been stuck under the lift bridge in Waddinxveen in the night to Apr 23, 2015. Also the middle section of the bridge was removed by cranes so that repairs could be started. It was expected that the Gouwe would be re-opened for ship traffic around noon. Steel pillar got stuck under bridge

Ship traffic on the Gouwe was obstructed in the afternoon of Apr 21, 2015, after a barge being pushed by the "Valk" allided with the lift bridge in Waddinxveen. The skipper of the ship suffered slight injuries when being hit by metal parts as the barge got stuck under the bridge with one of its two pillars. He was checked by medicals and could return to work. A safety zone was established as the middle section of the bridge had become unstable. Traffic on the N207 between Alphen and Gouda was hampered. The road was expected to remain closed until Apr 22 at 3:00 p.m. in both directions for the necessary repairs with a crane.
