SAR operation launched for missing crew member
A crew member of the 'Valentina 1', Dogukan Demirtas (29), has been reported missing was is presumed to have drowned while the vessel was en route from Bahodopi Port to Singapore. The incident was reported on Dec 17, 2024, at 9:00 p.m. LT. The disappearance was discovered when the victim was not seen onboard while the vessel was in pos. 05°46.81' N, 115°45.69' E. SAR operations were launched, and the relevant authorities have requested assistance from vessels passing near the location to provide support for the mission. The Surabaya Coastal Radio Station and VTS have been broadcasting periodic Man Overboard alerts to ships in the area. All vessels transiting through the region have been urged to assist and immediately report to the nearest Coastal Radio Station or SAR agency if they see or locate the victim.
