Ship and crew stranded since January
The "Urgence" with a crew of six on board has been stuck off the Marmara port of Izmit amid a lawsuit between the ship's renter and owner since Jan 7, 2019. The ship on this day dropped anchor off the Eskihisar port, having sailed from Temryuk. Unable to leave the vessel unattended, the crew which included Turkish, Azerbaijani and Ukrainian sailors was desperate for a solution. They claimed their food and water stocks have run out and they have only had pasta to eat for the past month. One of the Turkish crew members attempted to go into the port but was not allowed to enter by the port authority and the Coastguard who forced him to return to the ship which remained moored in pos. 40° 45.92' N 029° 26.63' E on Gebze anchorage. She left Tuzla on May 31 at 5 p.m. and headed to Istanbul, where she berthed 2,5 jours later and on June 4 around 1 a.m. left the port bound to Amaliapolis, ETA June 5.
Engine trouble in Izmir
On July 4, 2018, the 'Urgence' suffered a technical failure, at Izmir where it had berthed at 7.25 a.m., coming from Rijeka. The vessel's departure permission was cancelled by Maritime Authority, until completion of permanent repairs. After repair works were carried out by the crew at Izmir TCDD port, the ship sailed again on July 6 at 10.20 a.m. bound to Varna, ETA July 10, 2 p.m.
