Chartered vessel of Norwegian Training Center in Manila to bring aid to Tacloban

The Norwegian Training Center Manila is inviting nongovernment organization and government agencies looking to ship food packages to Tacloban to do so on a chartered ship that will be sailing from Manila midnight of Tuesday. The NTC-M, in a statement, said the M/V Kapitan Felix Oca, chartered in cooperation with the Philippines Norway Business Council, World Health Organization and Department of Energy, is now in Manila Bay. “Should NGOs or government entities in addition want to utilize the vessel to ship food packages, they are free to do so,” it said. Onboard the ship will be a WHO medical team with six tons of medical equipment; 5,000 “family packs,” consisting of 5 kilos of rice, sardines, noodles, water, corned beef and coffee purchased by the NTC-M; a five-man DOE team with four tons of equipment; 400 kilos of mining equipment and a rescue team of 23 miners; communications equipment from SMART Telecoms; P100,000 worth of food, water and sanitary articles form the Norwegian embassy in Manila; and relief goods. Earlier, Norway said it is donating NOK 20 million (around P140 million) in immediate humanitarian aid to victims of Yolanda, to be coursed through the United National, Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations
