Manoever caused boat capsized and drowning of a man

Tue Mar 26 11:03:22 CET 2019 Timsen

While shifting berth in Bangkok Port in the evening of March 24, 2019, the "TS Bangkok" dangerously approached the ferry and boat pier at the Klong Toey Nok Temple on the Chao Praya River. A longtail boat capsized, and a man inside the boat drowned. The ship with a pilot on board was turning around, assisted by tugs, but the current was too strong to safely clear of the pier. The boat was overturned by the swell caused by the ship’s propeller.

TS Line's 1,800-TEU TS Bangkok christened

Fri Aug 04 13:22:54 CEST 2017 arnekiel

Taiwan's TS Line proudly announced the naming of its 1,800 TEU containership TS Bangkok, at a christening ceremony held at the CSBC Corporation, Taiwan (CSBC) shipyard in Keelung on July 21. The ceremony was jointly held by Mr Wen-Lon Cheng, chairman of CSBC and Mr T S Chen, chairman of TS Lines. Wife of Mega International Commercial Bank's president Mr Li-Yen Yang also participated in the ceremony as the sponsor, according to Shipping Gazette.Mr Cheng addressed the importance of the series of 1,800-TEUers for TS Line. "Although the operating environment for ocean freight undergoes recession for several years, ship owners become increasingly conservative in placing new orders. With our consistent support for the local industry and our trust to the well established reputation for CSBC, we have chosen CSBC over other overseas shipbuilders to build our 1,800 TEU containerships.""We are very grateful of TS Line's support during the storm," said Mr Cheng."Apart from the four 1,800-TEUers, we will continue to place new orders at CSBC's Keelung shipyard," said Mr Chen.TS Bangkok is the first ship of the series. Work began in 2015, TS Bangkok has received certification from ClassNK (NK) and CR Classification Society (CR). The ship has a length of 172 metres and a width of 27.5 metres, it was the first containership equipped with CSBC's Sea-Sword Bow (SSB) technology. Compared to the traditional bow design, the SSB design is more efficient in energy saving and carbon reduction. The SSB design's energy-saving device enables the ships to maintain optimum performance in various navigational conditions and to reduce fuel consumption. The design has been published on the cover of The Naval Architect for three consecutive years. It is also known as the best innovative vessel.TS Bangkok will be serving the intra-Asia trade lane on the JHT service and her port rotation is: Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya, Yokohama, Tokyo, Keelung, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Shekou, Laem Chabang, Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Hong Kong, Shekou, Osaka.
