Grounding off Santo Domingo
The "Alliance" ran aground off the port of Santo Domingo in the morning of May 17, 2019, 400 yards from the coast in the area of Guibia off the George Washington Avenue. The steel-laden vessel was ooming from the port of Novorossiysk and was scheduled to enter Santo Domingo on May 21 at 06:00 a.m. She had arrived in Dominican waters five days in advance, so it was decided to anchor without prior authorization but got stuck on a beach in front of Guibia. The captain of the ship requested help from the Dominican Navy on May 17 at 4:00 p.m. The ship was refloated in the morning of May 18 and moored in pos. 18° 27.48' N 069° 52.98' W.
