Salvage of yacht postponed
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection postponed its salvage efforts for the 'Too Elusive' on June 30. The went up in flames off the coast of Portsmouth on June 18, forcing three people and two dogs on board to abandon ship. The burning vessel then sank in about 80 feet of water. Officials planned to begin salvage on June 30, but weather conditions and safety concerns forced them to postpone. The salvage effort will be rescheduled now. Yacht sank after fire
The 'Too Elusive' caught fire on the Piscataqua River on June 18, 2022, on its way to a marina on the Piscataqua River in New Castle, New Hampshire. The three crew members from New Canaan, Connecticut and Jupiter, Florida, noticed black smoke coming from below the deck at around 4 p.m. Along with their two dogs they were forced to jumped into the river as the ship went up in flames. All were rescued by good Samaritans on nearby boats and taken to a nearby hospital, where they were treated and released. The yacht, engulfed in flames, drifted into Maine waters where she sank about two hours after the initial distress call. The authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
