Thor Heyerdahl crew rescued two people from a rubber boat
On Oct 25, 2021, at 5 p.m. the watch of the 'Thor Heyerdahl', which had left Borkum en route to Portsmouth on Oct 23, reported a small rubber boat which was drifting with two people on board in the Northsea. The British Coastguard was informed and announced the arrival of a patrol boat within one hour. The tall ship launched its own rescue boat and supplied the boaters with live vests and food. Due to the fading light, it was then decided to take the two on board at 6.30 p.m. They were equipped with dry clothes and medically treated. At 7.15 p.m. they were transferred aboard a boat of the Coast Guard. The ship then continued its voyage to Falmouth.
Injured boy medavaced off Portland Bill
A teenage crew member of the "Thor Heyerdahl" was airlifted to hospital following a rescue operation on pril 13, 2019. Also the lifeboat was launched from Weymouth after the alarm was raised at 11.40 a.m. The "Thor Heyerdahl" about 20 miles south of Portland Bill. After a Lee-On-Solent rescue helicopter arrived, the lifeboat crew returned to shore. The boy had an injured hand and was airlifted to Dorset County Hospital.
Medevac off the Schlei
The DGzRS-lifeboat "Nis Rander" of the Station Maasholm medevaced a 10 year old girl which had suffered a head wound off the Schlei estuary on June 9, 2013. The lifeboat transferred the girl to the harbor, from where she was delivered to the hospital by ambulances.
