Grounding on the Rhine at Colonia
On Nov 12, 2018, at 11.45 p.m. the "Tanja Deymann 1", 1644 ts (EU-No.: 02333403), jointly with the pushed barge "Tanja Deymann 2", 1615 ts (EU-No.: 02333404), ran aground at the edge of the fairway while sailing southbound on the Rhine at river km 687,5 in Colonia en route from Duibsurg to Mertert with a cargo of 1.200 tons diesel. The accident was caused by the low water level of the river which was only one meter in Colonia. The ship was unable to refloat with own power. No leaks, no pollution reported. The "Tanja Deymann 2" was losened in the foremidday of Nov 13. The "Tanja Deymann 1" was refloated by the barge "Avalon" at 10.50 a.m. The Rhine was closed at the salvage site for shipping for two hours, nine ships were affected.
