The "Taigeta" by Apr 6, 2010, remained at Falmouth Docks under detention by the Maritime Coastguard Agency. The vessel, manned by a mixture of Ukrainian and Russian seaman ran out of fuel in 45 knot winds. Falmouth-based Marine Towage Services sent the tug "Taktow" to tow the ship back to Falmouth where it was immediately detained under European Port State Control Regulations. The 11 man crew have not been paid for two months but negotiations are underway to secure money for them this week. The Mission to Seafarers are providing some food for the crew with its facility in the docks available for the men to ring home or use internet.

On Mar 30, 2010, the Brixham Coastguard was monitoring the "Taigeta" which had run out fuel and was drifting in 45 knot westerly winds and 6 metre seas, south of Plymouth, dragging the anchor. The ship was underway to Rotterdam with 11 crew on board. The emergency tug "Anglian Earl" was standing by along with the Plymouth RNLI all weather lifeboat. After a second anchor was dropped, the vessel was holding fast near West Rutts, southeast from Plymouth. Until there is a break in the weather it is unlikely to be able to take on fuel. She has so little fuel she is also unable to keep her navigation lights on.
