Tanker hit by Huthi missiles
The 'Swan Atlantic', en route from Dumai to Durres, was attacked in the southern part of the Red Sea on Feb 11, 2024. The ship was reportedly hit by several projectiles fired from Huthi-controlled territory. There wree 22 crew members on board the ship when it was hit. No one on board was injured. The oil company BP is now pausing all its shipments through the Red Sea in the light of the deteriorating security situation for shipping in the area.
Damage remained limited
The 'Swan Atlantic', which was attacked with 25 people and a cargo of biofuel feedstock on board, reported no injuries to any members of the Indian crew. The vessel has reported limited damage. The crew and the vessel were now being assisted by the US Navy and will be brought to safety under protection by naval forces.
Attack on tanker in Red Sea
The 'Swan Atlantic', en route from Sète to Port Réunion with 22 crew members and three armed guards and a cargo of vegetable oil on board, was hit by an object aft on the port side on Dec 18, 2023. The crew brought under control a small fire after the vessel was struck on its port side. The US Navy deployed the USS 'Carney' to assist after the attack in the Red Sea, which reached the tanker at 11.30 a.m. Norwegian time. The ship is owned by Norwegian Inventor Chemical Tankers. So far there were no damage reports. No one was injured on board. The ship was still operational despite a water tank having been damaged in the attack.
