Grounding near Rysjedalsvika
The 'Svealand' ran aground in the Krakhelle Sound near Rysjedalsvika on Dec 19, 2024, at around 10.30 a.m. (Lat. 61.4766 Lng 5.2836), en route from Rørvik, with seven crew members on board. The Central Rescue Service (HRS) was notified at 3:38 p.m.. No one was injured, no leaks nor pollution were reported. A rescue helicopter was mobilized as a precaution, and the ferry 'Losna' diverted to assist. It established a towing connection to secure the ship in situ, until a tug arrived at 5 p.m. and pulled the ship off. It was then towed to Leirvik in Hyllestad, where it was safely berthed at around 8.30 p.m. UTC. The likely cause of the grounding was a technical problems which caused a propulsion loss.
Engineer died of injuries
The man who fell about six metres down on the "Svealand" at Fiskå Mill on Apr 3, is now dead. The 44-year-old engineer from Sandnes, had suffered injuries to his head and multiple fractures. The man was transported to Stavanger University Hospital by air ambulance but died as a result of his injuries.

A crewmember of the Svealand" fell down 4-6 metres on board the "Svealand" at Fiskå on Apr 3, 2012, at 9.45 a.m. The man suffered injuries to the head and legs. An air Ambulance, ambulance, fire and police were called, and the man was transported to the Stavanger University Hospital by helicopter. He has injuries to the head and legs. The extent of the injuries is unknown
