Barge crashed against railway bridge
In the evening of Feb 29, 2016, at 7.30 p.m. the "Stör", 1190 ts (EU-No.: 04013130), got stuck under the railway bridge on the Stör. The 46-year old master had intended to berth 200 meters before the bridge when the propulsion failed and he could not get the ship under control while it proceeded towards the bridge with six knots. He and his 25-year old deckhand could jump out of the wheelhouse before it was crushed under the bridge. Trains between Hamburg and Itzehoe had to be stopped. Only with the falling tide the ship could be pulled out of the bridge. The bridge could be reopened again for rain traffic at 9.24 p.m. The damages had not obstructed the structural integrity of the construction. The "Stör" was berthed with the emergency rudder gear. Engine failure on the Elbe
The "Stör" (EU-No.: 04013130) suffered an engine damage on July 2, 2015, around 3 p.m., when coming from the Köhlfleet in Hamburg enroute to Cuxhaven. The ship drifted with the rising Tide towards the port until the URAG-tug "Bremerhaven" arrived to assist. As she was unable to control the barge solely, the tug "Löwe" of the Lührs was called for help too. The barge was moved back into the Köhlfleet where the engine could be started again and headed towards Cuxhaven. Stör onto stones
The "Stör" carrying a carog of 1600 tons wheat got stuck on stones underneath the Bridge of 17. June on the Southern Elbe in Hamburg in the morning of Feb 7, 2015. The accident happened in dense fog. The ship started to list to starboard and was timewise threatened to sink. A fire boat secured the barge while another ship lightered the cargo. The master remained aboard, while his wife was taken off.
