Fire in engine room
On Oct 2, 2014, around 7 p.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Stoc Marcia", which was coming from Gothenburg, north of Bornholm, 35 miles south of Ronneby. First on the scene was the Swedish lifeboat "Gad Rausing" of the rescue station Skillinge which headed out a few minutes after the alarm was raised. The crew managed to shuot off the engine room and activate the ship's fire extinguishing system. Short time after the Lifeboat the helicopter Lifeguard 002 with firefighters of the so-called MIRG Force (Maritime Incident Response Group) arrived. They were winched onto the ship and found that the fire was under control. Around 10 p.m. it was clear that the fire was completely extinguished, and the MIRG force was brought aboard the "Gad Rausing" to return to Skillinge. The "KBV 034", "KBV 048" and "KBV 003" of the Swedish Coast Guard arrived later in the evening. During the night, the Coast Guard remained on standby near the ship. In the morning of Oct 3 a tug arrived to tow the Stoc Marcia to Landskrona. The fire probably had started in the electrical system. No one of the Crew of 12 was injured in the accident.
