The fire brigade rescued an injured sailor from the 'Steinburg' in the afternoon of Feb 18, 2022 at ​​the Wulfstorf pier. A 38-year-old man, while climbing down the ladder to the engine room at around 3 p.m. fell down and suffered a leg fracture. He was still able to move into the wheelhouse of the ship. From there, the master contacted the lock master to request help. After the barge had moored at Wulfstorf, the Bad Bevensen fire brigade, ambulance and water police arrived. The injured man was rescued from the ship using the fire brigade's turntable ladder and then taken to the hospital in Lüneburg. Until a replacement arrived for the injured crew member, the ship with its cargo of rapeseed meal, bound for Itzehoe, had to remain at the berth.
