Greenpeace activists blocked bulkcarrier in Hamburg - one police officer injured
Activists of Greenpeace blocked the "SBI Subaru" from berthing in Hamburg Hansaport on June 1, 2017. The ship was only able to dock after a delay of about four hours. The freighter was coming from Texas, loaded with 60,000 tons of hard coal and was to arrive at Hansaport around 6 p.m. The environmental activists sent nine inflatable boats towards the ship and sprayed "No Coal - No Trump" onto the hull. Up to 22 people entered the water at the Hansaport in order to prevent the ship from reaching the berth. The incident occurred just before the decision of the US president Trump to leave the Paris Climate Protection Agreement. The water police sent several ships, including many smaller units from all over Germany, who participated in a training week in the town to train for the G20 summit. In persecutions on the water between the environmental activists and the police one official from Schleswig-Holstein was slightly injured. On shore the police took the personalities of several Greenpeace members. They were dismissed on the spot and escorted from the site,d. Eight inflatable boats were seized. Against the affected persons investigations were launched because of material damage, coercion, housebreak and violation of the assembly law. The "SBI Subaru" had to wait at the pilings in Finkenwerder for approximately three hours before she arrived at Hansaport at around 10 p.m. German report with photo: https://www.welt.de/regionales/hamburg/article165180528/Aktivisten-verhindern-Anlegen-von-US-Kohlefrachter.html
