Smit contracted with salvage
Smit Salvage has been awarded the contract for the salvage of the "Star Centurion" which was lying on iits port side of a sandbar almost completely under water off Singapore. Smit has to work with Indonesian partners on the project as the ship sank within Indonesian territorial waters. The Indonesian flagged anchor handling vessels "Pacific Valour" (IMO: 9443516), and "Swiber Anna" (IMO: 9466489), belonging to the Indonesian subsidiaries of the Singapore-based Swire Pacific Offshore and Vallianz Offshore Marine, have been stationed at the wreck. Vallianz Offshore, which operated the "Star Centurion" on behalf of the vessel's registered owner, notified the Trevaskis Ltd. that the ship was anchored at the time of the collision with the "Antea", 25118 gt (IMO: 9250153), which sailed into the cable layer's port side. Smit was likely to straighten the wreck using the parbuckling method. The "Antea" was meanwhile heading to the port of Kuala Sungai Linggi with an ETA as of Jan 16.
