Container ship evacuated after fire
A fire broke out in several containers on the aft cargo deck of the "SITC Osaka", berthed at the container terminal of Rokko island, Kobe, since May 4. All crew members were evacuated, and firefighting was going on. It was not clear if the fire was related to the recent mishap, when the container ship was hit by the "NYC Venus". Allision in Kobe
ipOn May 4, 2018, at 7 a.m. the containership "NYK Venus" allided with the "SITC Osaka" in Kobe. She had just departed from Kobe, bound to Singapore, and the "SITC Osaka" was scheduled to depart on May 8 at 4 p.m. By May 9, she was still berthed at the Maersk Sealand Container Terminal RC-3/RC-4/RC-5 in Kobe.
