Bulkcarrier refloated after more than two weeks
The "Harriett" was refloated in the morning of March 31 by own means and anchored near the grounding site for surveys. Underwater surveys carried out earlier did not show hull damages as the ship had grounded on sandy bottom near Mudyug island in the night of March 14 shortly after leaving Arkhangelsk port with 20.000 tons of coal on board, destined for Terneuzen.
Bulkcarrier hard aground in White Sea
The "Harriet" ran aground at the West coast of Mudyug island in the White Sea in the afternoon of March 15 , 2018. The accident happened shortly after leaving Arkhangelsk with 2.0000 tons of coal on board, destined for Terneuzen. The bulkcarrier was proceeding in ice, with an icebreaker ahead which suffered an engine blackout. The bulkcarrier was then moved with ice floe from fairway to shallows. As of Mar 19, the vessel was still hard aground. An underwater survey was to be carried out on Mar 20, two salvage options were under consideration: either to lighter the ship or attempt to refloat it with the help of icebreakers. After unsuccessful salvage attempts the ship was still aground on March 29.
