Sheng Chang 7 rescued crew of sinking bulker

In the night of Oct 8, 2023, the 'Sheng Chang 7' along with Chinese SAR authorities saved the crew of a coastal bulker that was listing dangerously off the coast of Shanghai. The East China Sea Rescue Bureau had received a distress call of the bulker, laden with sand and gravel, which had developed a severe list off the mouth of the Yangtze with 13 crew members on board. The bureau dispatched the fast rescue ship 'Dong Hai Jiu 204' and put a rescue helicopter team on standby. The rescue ship 'Dong Hai Jiu 101' was also nearby and joined the response. As the casualty's list increased, the crew was ordered to deploy their life raft and prepare to abandon ship. With their vessel going down, all 13 crew members abandoned ship into life rafts. The 'Shen Chang 7' was the first on scene and recovered all castaways. By the time the rescue bureau's responders arrived, the distressed bulker had sunk. The castaways were transferred onto the 'Dong Hai Jiu 101' by small boat in order to bring them back to shore. All were delivered safely to the Shanghai Waigaoqiao terminal.
