Sick crew member treated on board of anchored vessel
On Aug 22, 2021, the Port Authority of Trieste carried out a rescue operation together with the emergency sercice after being contacted by the 'Shaman Wisdom' which was at anchor off the port, for a crew member with a high fever who reported severe abdominal pain. Having notified the Maritime Health and the rescue service, the Coast Guard tasked a patrol boat available for the transfer of medical personnel. An ambulance quickly reached the quay, and two health workers, a doctor and a nurse, boarded the patrol boat, with which they reached the ship. The transfer made more complicated than usual due to the bad weather conditions at the time of the operation. After having carefully checked the conditions of the man and ruled out that it was contagion from Covid 19, the doctors ascertained that it was a strong urinary tract infection, to be treated with the administration of antibiotics, without it being necessary to disembark and hospitalize the seafarer.
