Man fell over board in Terneuzen
Emergency services were called to the 'Seatrout', en route from Ghent, on March 12, 2025, at 10.45 p.m. after a 29-year-old man from Russia fell over board in the lock complex in Terneuzen. A trauma helicopter and a diving team were sent to the outer port. The person was lying on a fender in the lock, but not in the water. The victim was brought to shore using a cherry picker. Several ambulances arrived on the scene. A trauma helicopter from Rotterdam also landed at the lock complex. The person was taken to hospital by ambulance, but had to be declared dead. The police have informed the labour inspectorate about the accident. The tanker towed out of the lock and berthed in the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal. Repairs at Odense yard completed
The "Sea Trout" has left the Lindoe Shipyard OSS in Odense after repairs of damage suffered in the collision with the Liberian flagged bulkcarrier "Usolie" (IMO-No.: 8800315), and subsequent grounding, and headed to Primorsk as next port of call, ETA Oct 30, 9 p.m.
Tanker refloated
Under the eyes of several spectactors, the "Seatrout" was refloated on Sep 20 at 3.46 p.m. Involved were the tugs "Multratug 14", "Multratug 27", "Multratug 22", "Multratug 30", "Union Pearl" and "Experience" which had started the salvage attempt at 3 p.m. The accident which caused the grounding had involved three ships, two ships which came from Antwerp and one that was bound to Antwerp. Due to the resilient ship, the "Usolie" and the "Seatrout" had to divert so close to each other that there was a suction effect, a collision followed and the "Seatrout" eventually stranded at the Dumoulin Road near the village of Bath. During the salvage operation, ship traffic was completely shut down. Previously, ships of less than 200 meters could still pass with caution. At 4.15 p.m. river traffic was floating again. The tanker was berthed at the Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding in Flushing on Sep 20 at 7.45 p.m. with visible damage at the port side bulwark.
