Lost ceramic coatings to be replaced in Sydney

Wed Mar 01 11:53:12 CET 2017 Timsen

The "Searoad Mersey II" will be out of action until the end of March. She left Tasmania on Feb 25, 2017, to undergo repairs in Sydney where she was drydocked on Feb 27. If all went to plan the ship would be back on the Bass Strait run by the final week of March. On the delivery voyage from the builders FSG yard in Flensburg, where she had sailed on Nov 5, 2016, to Devonport, where she arrived on Dec 12, the "Searoad Mersey II" had some ceramic coatings come off the hull and it had gradually got worse. The operator has now been able to secure a dry dock in Sydney to get the ship out of the water and get it repaired.

On Nov 5th brand-new SEAROAD MERSEY II started her long delivery voyage from Flensburger Schiffswerft to her homeport Devonport, Tasmania and passed the Kiel Canal heading for a stop at Las Palmas. She is one of the largest LNG-powered vessels afloat.
