UME expands fleet with ro-ro from CMA CGM

Wed Nov 13 06:52:48 CET 2019 arnekiel

Red Sea ferry and ro-ro operator United Marine Egypt (UME) has added a third ship to its fleet following the acquisition of CMA CGM’s 1,103-lanemetre CAP CAMARAT (now ELGOUNA TRADER)

Roro ferry saved couple with 2 year old child after yacht fire

Fri Mar 14 09:44:30 CET 2014 Timsen

On Mar 12, 2014, at 8:08 a.m. the CROSS Gris-Nez got relayed a signal of the EPIRB of the French 16-m,yacht "Must" 50 miles east of Minorca island (Balearic Islands). The CROSS Med had been unable to contact the owner of the ship via satellite phone before. After contact was established, the owner reported that he was forced to abandon his ship which went on on fire for some reason, with his wife and their 2 year old child. All three were on a raft that threatened to deflate. The CROSS Med requested the assistance of the Spanish authorities which dispatched a helicopter and a lifeboat. At 10:17 a.m., the three castaways were recovered by the "Cap Camarat" which was enroute from Marseille to Bejaia which had been diverted to the area by the Spanish maritime authorities. After their rescue they were hoisted aboard the helicopter and repatriated on Menorca at 11:30 a.m. where they were supported by the hospital and the French consular services. The lifeboat was in search of the sunken yacht wreck.
