Grounding off Piraeus
In the evening of Dec 1, 2021, the 'Sea Patris', en route from Piraeus to Novorossyisk, ran aground in the waters of the prefecture of Psyttalia at the exit from the port of Ikonio with 22 crew members on board. The 'Karapiperis New Generation', the 'Vernicos Oceanos' and the 'Christos XXX' were deployed to assist. They refloated the ship which was moored safely at the anchorage of Piraeus. No leaks nor injuries were reported and no marine pollution was observed. The ship was banned from sailing by the Central Port Authority of Piraeus until the presentation of a class maintenance certificate by the classification society that monitors it.
Sea Patris released
The "Sea Patris" left the port of Zeebrugge on Feb 15 at 11.45 p.m., bound for Bremerhaven, ETA Feb 16, 11 p.m. The ship was seized since the end of January because the salaries of the 23 crew members had not been paid during months and because of breaches of the ship's safety. In the meantime, the wages have been paid and the ship has been re-inspected.
Ship detained for defiencies and unpaid wages
After its arrival in Zeebrugge on Jan 31, 2018, at 9.30 a.m. the "Sea Patris" has been detained since the afternoon because the owner, the Greek shipping company MCCL, has not paid the wages of the 23 crew members, the majority Ukrainians, for months. The ship had on board a cargo of vehicles, having sailed from Le Havre on Jan 30. Upon inspection, the shipping inspectorate also noted a number of minor safety breaches. A representative of the Greek shipping company was expected to arrive in Zeebrugge tonight. Dutch report with photo: http://www.focus-wtv.be/nieuws/schip-aan-ketting-tot-lonen-zijn-uitbetaald
