Dredger had stowaways on board

Thu May 30 21:41:46 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Sand Fulmar" reported five stowaways on board to the Dover Coastguard on May 29, 2019,, at 2.50 p.m. They were described as unarmed Albanians in the late twenties. The vessel, with 13 crew members on board, continued its dredging activities eight miles south of Hastings in position 50 43 16 N, 000 33 55 E, before entering the port of Northfleet on May 30 at 9.15 a.m.

Cooling water trouble off Beachy Head

Mon May 27 21:02:29 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Sand Fulmar", sailing in ballast with a crew of 14 on board, suffered a problem with the cooling water system 22 miles southeast of Beachy Head, in position 50 30 02.7 N, 000 40 19.4 E, on May 26, 2019, at 10.10 a.m. The vessel has anchored, and repairs were carried out by the crew. No assistance was required. At 12.40 a.m. the damage was fixed and the ship continued its work. The vessel was dredging in the Bassurelle dredging grounds near northeast lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme.

Dredger found container debris

Fri Jun 06 11:13:03 CEST 2014 Timsen

On June 5, 2014, shortly after 09.30 a.m. the "Sand Fulmar" was 18 miles off Eastbourne when they came across what appeared to be the upturned hull of a fishing boat floating just below the surface. Dover Coastguard was informed and Eastbourne all-weather lifeboat was immediately launched whilst the "Sand Fulmar" stood by the object. When on scene the volunteer lifeboat crew were able to conduct a detailed inspection and the object was identified as the metal doors of a large shipping container. Neither the lifeboat nor the dredger had suitable equipment capable of lifting the object and it was not possible to mark it in any way. An obvious hazard to navigation, further attempts will be co-ordinated by Dover Coastguard to recover, sink or mark the object.
