159 migrants rescued in four missions
On Nov 6, the 'Salvamar Spica' has rescued 15 migrants from a boat, which had been located by a merchant vessel about 20 nautical miles south of Faro Sabinal. The castaways were transferred to Almeria. The 'Salvamar Gienah' has transferred 21 people to Motril from a boat which was previously located by the Guardia Civil south of Almuñécar. On the morning, the 'Salvamar Mizar' was mobilized to a cayuco which was located ten nautical miles south of El Hierro with 55 people on board. T'he migrants were accompanied to the port of La Restinga. The 'Guardamar Polimnia' has rescued 68 people from a rubber boat 42 nautical miles east of Arrecife. 212 migrants assisted in two responses
The MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo in Tenerife coordinated the response to two troubled migants boats on the morning of Oct 10. The 'Salvamar Mizar' accompanied a cayuco, which navigated under its own means to the port of La Restinga. There the 158 people on board disembarked. The 'Guardamar Talía' rescued 54 people from another cayuco and transferred them to the port of San Sebastián de la Gomera.
Cayuco with 57 migrants assisted to La Restinga
The 'Salvamar Mizar' accompanied the occupants of a cayuco on the morning of Oct 9 five nautical miles south of La Restinga. It was located with 57 sub-Saharan people on board, including one minor. The disembarkation ended at 12:40 a.m. Canary time. The response was coordinated by the Rescue Centre of Salvamento Marítimo in Tenerife.
