Arrested by court after collision with Gas Carrier Gas Infinity

Bulk carrier Royal Arsenal (26586 gt, built 1999) / Liquefied Petroleum Gas Carrier Gas Infinity (44652 gt, built 1997): According to the lawyers associated with the Admiralty Suit No. 01/2019, the High Court of Balochistan in Pakistan has issued an arrest order dated Jun 28, 2019, for bulk carrier Royal Arsenal with respect to the claim of damages and losses suffered by the owner of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Carrier Gas Infinity due to alleged collision / accident caused, due to negligence in navigation by Royal Arsenal on Apr 7, 2019, when Gas Infinity was smoothly sailing in the westerly direction to the port of Ras Laffan, Qatar area in the Strait of Hormuz, near Iranian waters. Bulk carrier Royal Arsenal is beached at Gaddani Shipyard in Pakistan for dismantling. Reportedly, the owners of Gas Infinity have claimed maritime lien against Royal Arsenal , i.e. claim which travels with the ship and is not affected by change in ownership. The suit is filed for recovery of damages of US$ 5,282,924/- incurred by plaintiff on various accounts. The court has ordered that defendant vessel shall not be scrapped nor shall be removed.
