Heating system failed in freezing temperatures
On Jan 22, 2023, following the arrival of the 'Rose III' at the port of Nakhodka, the heating system of the vessel failed, whikw temperatures at Nakhodka were minus 26 degree Celsius. When representatives of the Far Eastern Regional Organization of the Russian Union of Seafarers (SUR) and the port authorities boarded the 'Rose III', , the temperature inside the vessel did not exceed minus 5 degrees Celsius. 24 sailors, aming tgen three Russians, including the Captain Sergei Volgin from Kaliningrad ,and senior mechanic Alexander Gonchar from Tuapse, who had just arrived on board, and 21 Indians, were struggling to survive. On Jan 22, the port administration of the port of Nakhodka detained the bulk carrier until the heating system was repaired. Russian coastal services were involved in the urgent repair of the 'Rose III' heating system. After a successful repair, the detention was lifted and the vessel safely left the port of Nakhodka on Jan 26, headed to Dandong with an ETA as of Jan 30.
