Power loss in Emglish Channel
The "Rila", en route from Salvador anchorage, Brazil, to Gdynia with a crew of 16 suffered a defective main drive and loss of propulsion in the morning of Feb 15, 2019, in position 49 25 55 N, 004 40 17 W. The vessel was carrying 37644 tonnes of soy beans. It was assisted by the tugs "Terasea Hawk" (IMO: 9624598) and "Fairplay 27" (IMO: 9520572) and transiting the English Channel with a reduced speed of around five knots on Feb 16. The vessel arrived in Gdynia on Feb 26 at 4.30 p.m. and berthed at the Gdynska Stocznia Remontowa "Nauta" for repairs. The ship sailed again on April 12 and headed to Riga, where it berthed at the fertilizer terminal on April 13 short past midnight.
Disabled bulkcarrier under tow to Gdynia for repairs
The "Rila" left the Salvador Anchorage on Jan 3, 2019, being towed by the offshore tug "Terasea Hawk" (IMO: 9624598), across the South Atlantic and bound to a repair yard in Gdynia, ETA Feb 5. The ship was disabled on Dec 7, 2018, and went adrift off the Brazil coast south of Recife, being en route from San Lorenzo to Pula with an ETA as of Dec 27. On Dec 10 the bulk carrier was taken on tow by the Brazilian tug "Regulus" (IMO: 9541734) and taken to the Salvador anchorage. On Dec 19 the "Terasea Hawk" was called from Las Palmas.
Disabled bulkcarrier towed to Salvador de Bahia
The "Rila" was disabled on Dec 7, 2018, and started drifting off the Brazil coast south of Recife, while en route from San Lorenzo to Pula, ETA Dec 27. On Dec 10 the bulk carrier was taken in tow by the Brazilian tug "Regulus" (IMO: 9541734) towards the Salvador de Bahia anchorage where the "Rila" was moored in the morning of Dec 12 with further assistance of the tug "Cetus" (IMO: 9341847) in vicinity 13° 7.16' S 038° 32.89 W.
