Casualty towed to yard
The "Rhin" was towed from its mooring near the Kattwyk-Bridge in Moorburg to the Jöhnk Yard in Hamburg-Harburg for surveys and repairs. During the dewatering some oil was spilt into the Southern Elbe which was caught within oil booms. To stem the flooding proved to be complicated as a non-watertight door was lying underneath the surface of the water causing a constant water flow. Only when a dive company sent divers and a sheerleg stabilised the foundering tug, the ship could be raise so far that the flooded engine room could be pumped out. The fire brigade was on scene with several boats. The water ingress seems to have been caused by wave impact.
