Small explosion on the Rhine
The 'Rheinpoesie' caused a major operation by the fire brigade and police on the morning of Nov 25. Fire boats were also deployed. Thick white clouds and steam were billowing from the vessel that was traveling on the Rhine in Düsseldorf, when a small explosion occurred. The water police were in charge of the operation. The ship was able to sail to a jetty on its own. There the fire was extinguished from land. During a subsequent inspection, smoke was found in the engine room. The fire department's rapid intervention prevented the fire from spreading to other areas of the ship. After almost two hours, the last of the approximately 40 emergency services, including volunteers from the volunteer fire department, returned to their stations. No one was injured in the fire.
