Collision on the Rhine

The "Dundee" 2582 ts (EU-No.: 05501380), enroute from Ludwigshafen to Breisach was in collision with the "Renate", 2157 ts (EU-No.: 4607960), which was underway from Basel on the Rhine between Neuwied and Weißenthurm on Nov 23, 2016. The tank barge was about to enter the river arm at Neuwied behind the Weißenthurmer Werth when the cargo ship, which was underway river upstream, slammed into the starboard side of the tank barge. The bow of the "Renate" suffered significant damage, the hull of the "Dundee" was breached on a length of two meters at the height of the waterline. The unloaded "Renate" suffered water ingress in one cargo tank. The damage was estimated to be more than 100.000 Euro. She was taken alongside another barge to a repair yard in Zwindrecht where she berthed on Nov 25. Renate allided with ferry pontoon

The "Renate" carrying a cargo of gasoil came off its course on the Rhine near Remagen in on Dec 10, 2011, around 1 p.m. and ran into a floating pier of the ferry pt. and the boat "RPL 7" of the fire rescue REmagen as well as two smaller boats of the fire rescue Kripp-Linz and a work boat of the ferry company. The police Andernach found out a technical malfunction as the cause of the allision. The ferry pontoon was pushed from its moorings and damaged.
