Ship will resume sailings on Nov 17

After three cruises of the 'Regal Princess', due to depart on Oct 27, Nov 3 and Nov 10, had been canceled due to a technical issue with the power generators on the ship, Princess Cruises has now confirmed that all repairs have been completed, and it will depart on the Nov 17 sailing as scheduled from Galveston. Princess Cruises gave all guests who were booked on one of the three canceled cruises a full refund and a 50% credit to use for a future cruise. The Nov 17 sailing is a seven-night cruise to the Western Caribbean from Galveston. The ship will visit Costa Maya, Roatan and Cozumel.

Cruise ship suffered another generator issue

The 'Regal Princess' had also cancelled the sailing on Nov 10 due to a second issue that occurred on the vessel. A team has been working to address a major technical issue involving one of the power generators, which has been successfully repaired. As the vessel was preparing for the next sailing, a second generator suffered a technical failure., which meant additional time out of service was needed to ensure the vessel would be fully operational and safe. It wa unclear whether the failure of two different generators was related or simply coincidental. An engineering team was investigating the issue and ensure all repairs get completed in Galveston,

Two cruises cancelled due to technical issues

Princess Cruises had to cancel a second cruise of the 'Regal Princess' due to technical repairs of the vessel in Galveston. After recently cancelling the ship’s Oct. 27, 2024, sailing, the company announced on Oct 30, that the Nov. 3 departure was not going ahead either, as the technicians have been unable to complete essential repairs. After repositioning from Northern Europe, the 'Regal Princess' was scheduled to offer a cruise to the Western Caribbean. Departing from Galveston, the seven-night cruise featured visits to Cozumel and Costa Maya as well as Roatán. Affected guests will receive a full refund of all money paid to Princess and, as a gesture of goodwill, a 25 % future cruise credit (FCC)), which can be used for new bookings made by May 31, 2025, and sailing by May 31, 2026. Guests who used Princess’ EZair program saw their flights automatically cancelled before receiving a full refund. Passengers who made independent travel arrangements were encouraged to contact their airline provider or travel advisor directly for assistance. Princess will reimburse guests’ air change fees up to $200 per person.
