Three ships left ports of Odesa Region
In the morning of Oct 17, 2023, three ships, the 'Bull', 'Ramus' and 'Bahar K', have left ports of the Odesa Region for passage along the temporary Black Sea corridor. The 'Bull' had entered a Ukrainian port for loading on Oct 12. The 'Ramus', headed to Oristano with an ETA as of Oct 25, and the 'Bahar K' followed for entering along the temporary corridor on Oct 13. The 'Briza' followed for entrance to one of the Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea on Oct 17. According to the calculations of the Center for Transport Strategies, 33 ships passed (taking into account Briza) along the new route announced by Ukraine to enter the ports of the Odesa Region. For exit (including five vessels that have been in ports since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022), taking into account these three vessels, this figure reached 24. A total of 57 ships passed in both directions.
Man missing from ship
A 24-year-old sailor from Hyderabad has gone missing from the "Taif" in Somalia. Family members of N. Bharath Nagendra Manikanta lost contact with him on Jan 16, 2018, and have not heard from him since then. His family got a message from his friend on the ship that he is not to be found aboard. Bharath had studied B Tech (mechanical) from Narsapuram in West Godavari. He was recruited by West Line Ship Management Pvt Limited, Ahmedabad, through campus placement. He joined the "Taif" on November 11, 2017, after undergoing nine months training. The ship reportedly broke down in Somalia on December 25, 2017. Bharath, an engine cadet, had gone to his room on board the ship after finishing work on Jan 16, but did not report on duty the next day. His colleague Shiva went to check in Bharath's room, but he was no where on the ship. Shiva informed the officials concerned.
