P&O ferry out of service until at least Feb 19
The 'Pride of Rotterdam' ,sailing between Rotterdam-Europoort and Hull, has been taken out of service on Jan 14, 2024, and was undergoing the annual maintenance in Klaipeda. The shipping company P&O Ferriescould not say exactly when the ship will be able to sail again. In any case, it will not be before Feb 19, leaving the 'Pride of Hull' the only ship on the route. The maintenance is part of an annual service. P&O Ferries had informed the customers, hoping that the impact on travelers would not be too bad.
Dockers in Rotterdeam blocked &O ferry after mass sacking of crews
Dockers in Rotterdam refused to load freight onto the 'Pride of Rotterdam' set for Hull on March 25, 20220, in solidarity with the 800 seafarers sacked by P&O on March 17. The vessel was eventually able to leave the Europoort in Rotterdam. A row of cheering dockers blocked the entrance to the ship in Europoort. The action also sparked action in Hull on March 26 when dozens of P&O workers supporters walked on the A64 and slowed down traffic entering King George Dock from Hedon Road. P&O sacks its crews
On March 17, 2022, P&O ordered all its ships back into port to sack the 800 crewmembes and replace them by cheap agency workers. At the present time the P&O fleet are located as follows, out of service. Pride of Kent / Canterbury = Dover Spirit of Britain = Dover Spirit of France = Schiedam (refit) Pride of Hull = Hull Pride of Rotterdam = Rotterdam European Highlander = Cairnryan European Causeway = Larne Norbay = Liverpool Norbank = Liverpool It is unclear at this point if Dutch vessels are affected by the crew changes. Replacement crew are on hand at Dover, Cairnryan and Larne.
