Trawler ran aground off A Coruña

Salvamento Marítimo had to intervene in the morning of Aug 8, 2023, near the Tower of Hercules in A Coruña after the 'Pombo Seis' with eight crew members had run aground in the area. The ship ran onto several rocks after the skipper tried to change course, due to a steering failurewhen trying to carry out this maneuver. Though there were no serious injuries, some fishermen had suffered bruises. The MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo in A Coruña was notified by another fishing vessel, the 'Novo Casador', at around 3:00 a.m. Once at the scene, the crew of the SAR boat 'Salvamar Betelgeuse' verified that the ship had no structural damage. The 'Pombo Seis' was pulled off the rocks and afterwards was able to navigate by its own means to the port of Oza, escorted by the 'Salvamar Betelgeuse'. The response ended at 5:00 a.m. Once the 'Pombbo Seis' was docked in Oza, divers went down for a bottom inspection ahead of the needed repairs.
