Medevac in Flushing
In the afternoon of Jan 5, 2020, the lifeboat Zeemanshoop' was alerted for a medical evacuation from the 'Pollux'. The station Westkapelle was notified at around 4.30 p.m. for a medical emergency on board the pilot boat which was on its way to the port of Flushing. A helicopter with a nurse from the Coast Guard was also alerted. Shortly afterwards, the Bresken KNRM crew also was called to the site for assistance. The lifeboat 'Uly' from Westkapelle station arrived shortly before the 'Zeemanshoop' and had personnel from an ambulance on board who took care of the person. A few minutes later, the Coast Guard rescue helicopter arrived and a nurse was also dropped off on board the pilot boat. It was decided to continue sailing to the outer harbor of Flushing where the patient was transferred to a waiting ambulance. Collision at Steenbank - two injured
On Jan 21, 2018, at 4.25 a.m. the "Pollux" was in collision with the bulkcarrier "Nord Taurus" at the Northern Steenbank anchorage off the Dutch coast. The "Nord Taurus" had just dropped off its pilot and sailed with about ten knots, intending to pass the pilot vessel of the Dutch Pilotage Service which was lying north of Westkapelle, at , to the left. But it went wrong, and the "Nord Taurus" hit the "Pollux" with the bow. In spite of significant damage at port side and the wheelhouse the pilot boat managed to return to Flushing with own power and was berthed in the outer port on Jan 21 at 1.45 p.m. Two crew members of the pilot vessel suffered bruises. The "Nord Taurus" had sailed from Terneuzen on Jan 20 at 11.30 p.m., headed to Murmansk, ETA Jan 27. The "Polaris" relieved the "Pollux" which will have to get its dented hull and wheelhouse repaired. She sailed from Flushing on Feb 10 at 7.15 a.m. and berthed at the Damen Shiprepair Yard in Rotterdam the same day at 2 p.m. for repairs.
