Damaged trawler sailed to Klaipeda
The "Plutonas" which had run aground in Gisundet on Sep 2, did not run aground in Connection with the marking of the new fairway. The crew explained that they had emptied ballast tanks in Kårvikhamn the day before had unloaded shrimp catch. What they did not anticipate was that this had made the boat so light that it almost was not maneuverable. Without the ballast tanks the trawler behaved almost like a nugle at sea. It was hard to keep control of the ship when it came into the fairway south of Gisundbrua in the strong current. The grounding had sparked a major rescue apparatus Operation involving two tugs from Tromsø and a Coastguard vessel. When the prawn Trawler was refloated at high tide it was towed to shore in the Trelastutsalg in Midfylket. The ship had developed a strong list due to water Ingress the port side. The Finnsnes-based Dykk- og Anleggsservice was able to patch the gash of about 17 centimeters length and 3-4 centimeters at its widest amidship at port side using Tec-7 and Fixing a nylon mat over the leak which was attached with magnets. Trawler refloated
The "Plutonas", which had run aground in the Finnsnesrenna, was pulled off at 5.30 p.m. and taken to the Lund Quay. The grounding seems to have been caused by a navigational error causing the ship to get stuck in the middle between the two shipping lanes. Grounding in Gi-Sound
In the morning Sep 2, 2014, around 10 a.m. the "Plutonas" ran aground in the Gisound. The trawler ran aground three times within a short period and finally got stuck outside the fairway with a list to port. The Troms police proceeded to the ship to check what has happened and carry out routine investigative steps. Drug testings of the crew were negative. The accident could have happened in connection with the barge “Scan Pipe 2” replacing the temporary marks with fixed permanent marks in approx. the same positions until Oct 30. All ships were requested to navigate through the channel with caution and as low speed as possible.
