Fire caused major damage

Thu Feb 18 18:44:01 CET 2021 Timsen

The 'Enigma' caught fire on Feb 18, 2021, while at anchor four kilometers off Langkawi island, northeast Malaysia, in the Malacca Strait. There were seven crew members on board who called for the assistance of the Langkawi Maritime Rescue Sub Centre and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency MMEA, which began fighting the fire at around 08.18 a.m. local time. The crew was successfully transferred to the KM 'Tenggol' and was safe and unhurt. No oil spill was reported. Extinguishing the blaze with boats was hampered by strong winds. The fire was finally put out by the evening, but it caused major damages. The yacht is still identified by AIS as 'Phocea', but according to other records, her name actually was 'Enigma'. Megayacht Phocea seized in Vanuatu for breaching the Immigration and Customs Act

Sat Aug 11 10:17:27 CEST 2012 arnekiel

The captain of the yacht Phocea, which has been seized in Vanuatu, was due in court on August 10, 2012. Richard Malaise and a woman, who was onboard when the boat arrived from Tonga, are charged with breaching the Immigration and Customs Act and if found guilty, they could be jailed for up to two years. Police searched the vessel for suspected weapons and fake Vanuatu passports more than two weeks ago. Two government ministers and another MP were reported to have been onboard the vessel before customs officials arrived. A senior investigator, who said drugs were seized, was subsequently suspended by the government in a move that the police officer is challenging. The reported owner, Anh Quan Saken, left Port Vila before he could be questioned. http://www.rnzi.com/pages/news.php?op=read&id=70166
