Cargo loss off Kaskinen

On the night of Nov 17, 2024, approximately 39 cubic meters of wooden cargo fell overboard from the deck of the 'Optimar, en route from Roomasssaare, outside Kaskinen amid rough seas, probably logs or props. The authorities have not taken any action due to the incident. The cargo was expected to floats ashore quite quickly, and there were hardly any small boats on the move which could be endangered. The sea patrol has not been out in the area itself to check the situation. The 'Optimar', which was l waiting to be piloted into Kaskinen port, started to move at around 3 p.m. At 4.15 p.m. the ship finally docked at the quay.

Transforza to be repaired in Tallinn

The "Transforza" was re-delivered at the Vene-Balti Harbour, Tallinn, on Apr 5 at 3 p.m. Following the refloating on Apr 1, and subsequent underwater inspections the vessel was permitted by DNV-GL a single voyage to discharge the remaining cargo and proceed directly to a shipyard at Tallinn. On the way to Tallinn Shipyard the vessel called at the Paldiski South Harbour where the remaining cargo from the ship's holds was discharged. The vessel was currently alongside the repair berth awaiting dry-docking which was being planned for Apr 12. The ship left Tallinn again on May 16 and headed to Pärnu as next port of call.

Cargo ship refloated

On Apr 2 at 2 p.m. the "Transforza" was refloated by salvors Alfons Hakans in cooperation with Smit Salvage, under LOF after the deck cargo of aspen pulpwood was offloaded onto barges and delivered to Pärnu. There was no pollution reported during refloating. The vessel was currently at anchor off Kihnu island awaiting an underwater inspection to be carried out. The Tallinn Shipyard is being considered as a suitable repair yard but this was yet to be confirmed. There was still half cargo inside the vessel's holds to be discharged, and discussions on where the remaining cargo will be discharged were ongoing. The Pärnu Harbour authorities has refused the vessel's entry as port of refuge for environmental risks being a Natura 2000 protected site.
