Vessel drifted onto coast

The "Ocean Seagull" reported engine failure in the afternoon of Jan 27, 2014, in the North Pacific. The vessel was disabled and drifting in position 46 12N 150 50E, 12 miles northeast of the northernmost tip of Urup Island, Kuril Islands, in a stormy weather with 25 meters/sec southeastern wind and sea of six to seven meters height. The MRCC Petropavlovsk directed the salvage tug "Spravedliviy" and the freighter "FESCO Novik" to the casualty. At 9.35 p.m. Moscow time the vessel was drifting only five miles off coast with a drift speed of 1.2 knots, while the crew was trying to fix the engine. At 12.35 p.m. on Jan 28 the crew finally managed to re-start the engine, and the vessel resumed its voyage from Everett to Nagoya.
