Freighter drydocked for dismantling
In the late afternoon of March 25, 2019, the "Carib Palm" and the "Ocean Jasper" were towed from the eastern dock of the 5th basin in Brest to form 1, where they were drydocked to be demolished by Navaleo, a division of the group Les Recycleurs Bretons. The work should begin soon after the arrival of deconstruction equipment, including a large crawler crane that arrived at the site in the morning of March 26. Immobilised freighter towed to breaker's quay
On May 2 the "Ocean Jasper" berthed at Navaléo (Recycleurs Bretons) in Brest. Immobilized in the military port since August 2007, the cargo ship, sold at auction, was awarded for € 4,070 to Navaléo. Being towed by the "Saint-Denis" and "Clairvoyant", the "Ocean Jasper" left the anchorage at the Naval Base and joined the wharf of the 5th East Basin in the afternoon. Ocean Jasper sold for scrap 11 years after collision
The "Ocean Jasper", the ship responsible for the sinking of the shrimper "Sokalique", was auctioned in the morning of Apr 24, 2018, and sold for 4070 Euros to Briton Recyclers. The value of the "Ocean Jasper" was estimated at 500,000 Euros by the experts just after the collision on August 17, 2007. The auction had been ordered by the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Brest at the request of the ENIM, the social security of the sailors.
