Medevac off Bermuda
The 'Norwegian Escape' arrived ahead of schedule due to a medical emergency involving a US male passenger who suffered a suspected cardiac arrest on Nov 6, 2023, in Bermuda. At 4:15 p.m. Bermuda Radio received a telephone call from Meyer Agencies informing that the cruise ship would be arriving earlier due to the passenger in need of very urgent medical attention ashore. The Bermuda Radio kept Fire Dispatch and A&E at KEMH, updated. On Nov 7 at 04:45 a.m. the patient was transferred to the pilot/rescue boat for transportation to Ordnance Island and transferred to an ambulance for onward transport to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. The 'Norwegian Escape' subsequently arrived alongside Heritage Wharf later that morning.
Medevac off Thira
In the evening of Sep 4, the Thiras Port Authority was informed by the agent of the 'Norwegian Escape' that a 47-year-old foreign crew member needed immediate hospital treatment. The patient was transferred to the port of Athens and then transported by ambulance to a private clinic for further medical treatment, while the ship departed for the port of Piraeus.
Four cruises cancelled for unscheduled docking
The Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled four cruises of the 'Norwegian Escape' as the vessel undergoes an unscheduled drydock in September. The vessel will be out of service for over a month due to a required shipyard visit. The voyages scheduled to sail from Sep 8, 2022, through and including Oct 2 have been cancelled. Affected guests will automatically receive full monetary refunds of the paid fares to the form of payment provided at the time of reservation. To further compensate for the change, NCL is also giving passengers a ten percent discount in the form of a Future Cruise Credit for a future voyage. The 'Norwegian Escape' was set to offer ten- and 11-night cruises to the Mediterranean during the period, sailing from Civitavecchia to various destinations in Greece, Malta and Italy.
